Emily is 2...

Just wanted to share with you Emily's "I'm 2!" pictures.  These are the few pictures we got from two different days of photo session.  She basically didn't want anything to do with the people that were trying to take her picture.  Hopefully by next year she will be less closed off to most of the human race so we can get enough pictures to make it worth the ridiculous amount of money we spent on the photo package that included the photo disc.  Anyway...for your viewing pleasure...

They are going to put this one up on display in the studio apparently.  If you would like to see Emily in her Sears Portrait  fame...roll on down to the Buena Park Mall and check her out!! haha...

Notice the "Cry Baby" single tear drop in the corner of her eye?...

And there she is!  My little "Angel." I <3 her!

another gay bites the dust...

Attention Friends: No longer do you have to fear the wild and flailing body parts of one Kellan "Kelly" King.  He has decided, after a ten year friendship and a number of blows to other people's heads, shins, (insert body part here)______, that he no longer wants to be my friend because I suggested to him that it might not be the best idea for him to do gymnastics in large crowds.  As some of you might have already heard,  he has injured a few people on a few different occasions doing just that.  I pointed out to him that one day he might injure somebody that didn't happen to be his friend and that this hypothetical person might want to press charges on him for whatever damage he might cause.  This bit of constructive criticism along with the act of taking his friend to the hospital after such a blow to the head (he did a backhandspring and basically landed on top of her head...it was a pretty major blow!), was enough for him to end our friendship.  I know it is an official end because he "un-friended" me on Facebook!  Here is a small list of the people he has unfriended...
Me, Joe, Lara, Fuldd, Martin.  If you are not on this list of "Brown" relations, you have made the cut.  I have started a Facebook group called "I was Facebook dumped by Traumasaurus Rex and I'm ok with it!"  If you would like to be a member of this group, please feel free...however...know that by joining this group you will most likely be added to the list of "dumped" friends.

That's the update I have for you for now.  I leave you with this to remember the friendship by...

RIP Friendship with Kelly...It was fun while it lasted...

new face for a crap day

It's been sort of a rough morning.  I'm highly irratable and every turn I made this morning seemed to be the wrong one.  I wanted to scream out my frustrations but Emily was in a peaceful slumber in the back seat of the car so I decided not to disturb her.  To make myself feel better I decided to give my blog a facelift...only this took the frustration to a new level as it took me a long, long time to sort out how, exactly, I was supposed to do that!  <sigh>  I guess I'll just go and get myself another cup of coffee and possibly a donut (damn box just sitting there taunting me all day long!) to take my mind of things for a few minutes...after all...

"Tammy"

So mid-morning today I had to run a couple errands for work.  First to Rite-Aid to print some pictures for a bulletin board and then to Starbucks to pick up some coffee for a meeting that’s going on.  When I came out of Rite-Aid I noticed an older white couple just sitting in their big beat-up white truck (which was parked next to my car) talking away, about what I’m not sure.  I didn’t really think more on the matter until I got out of Starbucks and got into my car.  I had to be careful not to open my door too wide or else I would risk bumping their truck.  I was not able to hear what their conversation was about, but I peeked inside the truck before I went on my way.  I’m annoyed with myself because I have failed to remember the names that were embroidered onto their dashboard protector.  It was Ronnie and something stereotypically white trash sounding like “Tammy.” Nothing, in my book, says love like getting your name along with the name of your true love embroidered on the dashboard cover of your beat-up truck.  I also noted that from the rear-view mirror hung a blue glass dolphin decoration...

...and that the woman in the car was holding a Yorkshire Terrier in her lap.
I couldn’t help but notice the look on his face that seemed to be asking for some kind of help or escape from his current life situation.  There wasn’t much I could do about it though…all I can hope for is the best for that small creature!  I got to thinking about this couple as I headed back to the office.  I thought that they were sitting unusually close together in that beat up truck.  I thought that maybe it wasn’t “Tammy” who was accompanying him in that truck.  I thought that maybe this lady (who I imagined to have fluorescent pink or blue Lee press on nails)...
...was Ronnie’s “on the side.”  Maybe Ronnie had bought this woman the dog as an “I love you (but what I’m not telling you is that while you give me some good lovin’, I’m never going to leave “Tammy” to be with you)” present.  I thought how torturous it must be for this woman to sit there holding the sad little dog with “Tammy” staring at her from the dashboard while she pleaded with Ronnie to run away with her and be her forever man.  I thought how he, as stupid a man as he probably was, would sweet talk his way out of the sticky situation he found himself in (whether it be a threat from this lover to take the news of this relationship to “Tammy” or a threat of this lover to end the relationship for good) and into her pants!  I wonder what they would think if they knew what developed in my mind over their sitting in the parking lot of Rite-Aid this morning.

Just when you thought all was quiet…BAM!!!

So things have been pretty busy lately.  I haven’t really had the opportunity to sit down and write about the things that have been milling around in my head.  I have been asked a couple of times in the past week about whether or not I am still blogging… and then I got to asking myself why I wasn’t blogging…so I just decided to sit down and get something…or ANYTHING…out.

Today is my mom’s birthday.  If she were around she would be 58 today (I think…I’m not very good at math!).  For those of you that don’t know…my mom died in 2006 of the cancer.  It’s still pretty surreal for me.  It upsets me the most when I think about how much she would have ADORED Emily and would have had such a good time with her.  I wish I could call her and tell her the funny little things that Emily does everyday.  I guess I do in my own way, but it’s not really the same is it?  Well anyway…Happy Birthday mom!  I really wish we were going out to dinner tonight with you at Souplantation (since that’s the only place Grandad has the patience to go out to eat anymore…haha).

Anyhow...So I started procrastinating on the blog because I wanted to upload pictures of all of the fun times I have been having.  As that seems to be an impossible task...I will just blog and get some good pictures on here at a later time.  I don’t have my camera with me a the moment so I will just post some random shots I have on my phone.  (you will probably have seen most of these...as they are the ones I usually upload straight to Facebook...it will be a nice review if nothing else! haha! (they came out in random order...just deal!)

I'm sorry if this is your Grandma...actually...no I'm not!  Your Grandma's name kinda RULES!!!

We 3 went out after Allison's baby shower. A couple guys bought us drinks.  One was a dentist.  His friend was a construction worker who was recently divorced with a 19 month old son, a 5 year old son and a teenage daughter who also fostered his sister's kids or something like that.  He was having a hard time finding someone.  hmm....

This was for my roller disco birthday party.  I am going to try to post more pics from that sometime soon.  That was good times!

Mary and Chris took us to see The Decemberists in San Diego.  The guy behind us was at the L.A. show the night before...information I didn't need to know but was forced upon us nonetheless...

I'm really sad this picture didn't turn out.  It was a picture of a morbidly obese guy that was sweating profusely and practically eating the attractive girl that he was somehow with.  I couldn't even enjoy the show because this scene was grossing me out so bad!

:)

Emily aka Diddles

January the long...February the Great (so far...ugh!)

I thought I would blog more than I do but I just don’t have the time.  Or if I do have the time I feel like I just don’t have anything interesting enough to say in a blog to make it worth anybody’s time to read.  I don’t really have enough to say for this blog actually, but in the interest of wasting time when I really shouldn’t be wasting time, I’m going to waste some time.

I believe that January 2011 has been the longest month in the history of months.  I think back to New Year’s eve and it seems that it was centuries ago!  It must be the coming back to work from the holidays blues that makes January so excruciating.  That and the fact that the weeks can’t go by fast enough for the next paycheck in order to somewhat recover from the overspending that was done in December.  Not that January hasn’t had it’s share of expenses.  So many birthdays in January!  I think this will be the last year I attempt to celebrate my birthday in the month of January.  Next year I’m  having a beach party on July 14th instead.  Hope to see you all there!!....well…all of you except Kelly…unless, Kelly, you keep the throwing of sand and spitting in my special place to a minimum!  ;)  Another thing that’s made January a rough month is the change in Emily’s sleep pattern.  All of a sudden she no longer wants to sleep through the night.  It started about two weeks ago.  She started waking up every night at around 2am and didn’t want to go back to sleep no matter how hard we tried to ignore her pleas.  One night she was so sick of us not coming to her rescue that she decided that she would leap out of her crib to FREEDOM!  Horrified at the thud Joe leapt up out of bed and ran to the aid of the fallen Emily.  We kept her in our bed for a couple of nights until we were able to convert her bed into a toddler bed.  When we finally did change it Emily wanted nothing to do with it.  It took me about an hour to try to get her to go to sleep.  While she lay comfortably in the bed I knelt next to the bed with only the top half of my body on the bed laying next to her to coax her to sleep.  After an hour of this I could hardly get up.  My old bones can’t handle situations such as these as well as they might have once upon a time.  Her slumber only lasted until 2am when she started crying and calling “Ma ma….Ma ma…”  When she started getting hysterical I went to her to try to calm her down and lay her back in the bed.  She was having none of that.  They say you should just pick your toddler up and put them back in the bed whenever they get out…so she kept getting out and I kept picking her up and putting her back in.  This went on for an hour and she was crying hysterically the entire time.  Eventually she stayed as long as I got back into the previous bone hurting position and after about another hour she seemed to be sleeping sound enough for me to tip-toe back to my own room.  By this time is was about 4:25am.  I have to get up for work at 5:15am…so my night was pretty much over.  Fifteen minutes later she was crying again, got out of the crib, went to the door (which was gated off) and stood at the gate crying and calling for us.  We just let her be and after about 15 more minutes all was quiet again.  Twenty minutes later my alarm went off and it was time for me to start the day.  I stopped by  her room before getting in the shower and saw her lying there on the floor on top of the blanket we had placed on the side of the bed in case she fell out.  Poor thing.  After all that I feel sorry for HER?  <sigh>

Since that night we haven’t been too consistent about trying to get her to stay in her bed.  I bought a body pillow for her in the bed so that it will sort of block her in, but now she’s sick so we haven’t even bothered putting her in there for the last few nights.  This morning she woke up at about 4:15am wanting her bottle.  After she had finished it I gave her some medicine to help with her coughing and then she lay down comfortably (for her) on my chest.  Just when I thought she was about to drift off to sleep again she let out a little cough and then BAM! proceeded to throw up the entire contents of her bottle on my chest and in my hair.  Needless to say my hope for getting a few more minutes of sleep were shattered and into the shower I hopped. So…so far February is a banner month!  Can’t wait to see what the rest of it will bring!
